# Quick start

> Install PentAGI with the interactive installer — system requirements, download, a guided setup of providers and search engines, and the first sign-in.

## [System requirements](https://pentagi.com/docs/getting-started/quickstart/#system-requirements)

* Docker Engine 20 or later with Docker Compose; on [Podman](https://pentagi.com/docs/deployment/production/#podman), [install manually](https://pentagi.com/docs/getting-started/manual-installation/)
* 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM at minimum
* 25 GB of free disk space
* Internet access for images and updates

## [Download the installer](https://pentagi.com/docs/getting-started/quickstart/#download-the-installer)

The installer is a terminal UI that checks your system, configures [providers](https://pentagi.com/docs/glossary/#provider) and [search engines](https://pentagi.com/docs/glossary/#search-engine), hardens the setup and deploys the stack.

> [!WARNING]
> The macOS builds are signed and notarized. If macOS still blocks the installer, do not override the warning: download the archive for your CPU again from the links above.

## [Watch it first](https://pentagi.com/docs/getting-started/quickstart/#watch-it-first)

A terminal recording of the installer at work is on [asciinema](https://asciinema.org/a/BHI8GnwhzOnH1EfsQCNRfBatu).

## [Run it](https://pentagi.com/docs/getting-started/quickstart/#run-it)

```bash
mkdir -p ~/pentagi && cd ~/pentagi
uname -sm | sed -e 's,Linux ,linux/,' -e 's,Darwin ,darwin/,' -e s/x86_64/amd64/ -e s/aarch64/arm64/ | xargs -I PLATFORM curl -fLo installer.zip https://pentagi.com/downloads/PLATFORM/installer-latest.zip
unzip -o installer.zip
sudo ./installer
```

The installer talks to the Docker API through `/var/run/docker.sock`, so it needs root or a user in the `docker` group:

```bash
sudo usermod -aG docker $USER
newgrp docker
docker ps
```

> [!NOTE]
> Membership in the `docker` group is root-equivalent. Grant it only to trusted users; for production, run the installer with `sudo` or use rootless Docker.

The installer walks through:

1. **System checks** — Docker, network connectivity and requirements.
2. **Environment setup** — a `.env` file with sensible defaults.
3. **LLM providers** — OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Bedrock, Ollama, DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi, Qwen, MiniMax, Mistral, xAI or a custom endpoint.
4. **Search engines** — DuckDuckGo, Google, Tavily, Firecrawl, Traversaal, Perplexity, Sploitus, SearXNG.
5. **Security hardening** — generated credentials and SSL certificates.
6. **Deployment** — starts the stack with Docker Compose.

## [Sign in](https://pentagi.com/docs/getting-started/quickstart/#sign-in)

Open `https://localhost:8443` and sign in with the default account `admin@pentagi.com` / `admin`, then change the password.

The web UI and the other services are bound to localhost, but each [flow](https://pentagi.com/docs/glossary/#flow)'s [sandbox](https://pentagi.com/docs/glossary/#sandbox) publishes two callback ports, from `28000`–`29999` by default, on every interface of the Docker host, and ufw does not filter them. On a host others can reach, restrict that range first — see [Network exposure](https://pentagi.com/docs/configuration/security/#network-exposure). Then continue with [your first flow](https://pentagi.com/docs/getting-started/first-flow/); to update the installation later, follow [Upgrading](https://pentagi.com/docs/deployment/upgrade/).
